Connie Peters is the Director of Southern Methodist University's Preschool Teacher Education Program and the author of the LEAP Teacher Training Materials.  Ms. Peters has classroom teaching experience, teacher training experience and has worked with children with dyslexia and related learning disabilities. During the past four years, with funding from the Texas Instruments Foundation, Head Start of Greater Dallas and the Texas Education Agency, she redesigned the teacher-training program for LEAP.  As of mid-2003, over 1100 teachers and child care providers have participated in the LEAP training program.  This highly successful program is being implemented in Head Start and Early Childhood programs in urban and rural communities across the United States.
